Taco: Soft Shell

Skills Include:
  • 3 jaw chuck
  • finger dexterity
  • portion control
  • scooping
  • cutting
Sequence Summary:
  • Open packaging
  • Place taco tortilla on plate
  • Place down the center appropriate amounts of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa, sour cream
  • Fold one side over the filling, then fold up one end, then fold the other side over

Tuna Salad Sandwich

This can be done in conjunction with the tuna salad sequence or by itself with prepared tuna salad.  Other items such as chopped onion and chopped celery can be prepared by an adult and added depending on what the student likes.

Tuna Mix

The Tuna Mix sequence is less complicated and physically easier using the bag rather than can of tuna.  Independence with the activity sequence has good potential.  Molly was highly motivated to do this at home and was proud of herself when she did so.

Apple Picking

Going to an orchard with dwarf trees makes this an activity from pre-school aged children to adults.  Reaching through the branches might be difficult for those with tactile sensitivities. This could be reduced by wearing long sleeved shirts.
